Training

Hey,

Well this is the first post in the blog of my year in Guyana. Have just returned from Scotland where I have been on the Isle of Coll with Project Trust at my training for my year overseas. The week itself was an interesting week, although at times a little bit tenous but enjoyable all the same. I also met Luke, who I will be spending my year in Guyana with.

I have also been given a folder telling me everything that I need to know before and whilst I am in Guyana, and also very exciting, have been given the date that I leave! So come 21st August I will be on my way to Lethem via JFK and Georgetown! I am really looking forward to leaving, although at the same time I am slightly apprehensive about it all.

Whilst out in Guyana I am going to be teaching Maths and Science in one of the best secondary schools in the country, certainly the best in Region 9 within Guyana. The prospect that my teaching is going to have to get them to pass there end of year exams as well as there CXCs (equivalent of GCSEs) is also a worrying prospect.
